Renting a golf cart is one of the most popular and convenient ways to navigate Playa Potrero and its surrounding beach communities. Numerous local rental agencies offer street-legal electric and gas-powered carts that make hopping between local restaurants, grocery stores, and neighboring areas like Surfside, Flamingo, and Brasilito seamless and fun. Cruising at a relaxed pace in an open-air vehicle lets you soak in the tropical breezes, catch evening sunsets along the bay, and bypass the hassle of parking a full-sized rental car.

Despite their convenience, there are important rules and geographical boundaries to keep in mind. Golf carts are strictly prohibited from entering Las Catalinas, the completely vehicle-free pedestrian town located just north of Potrero. Under Costa Rican law, driving any motor vehicle on beaches or sand dunes is strictly illegal to protect sea turtle nesting sites and coastal ecosystems.
